Aishwarya Rai, Akshay Kumar, among the Padma Awardees

On the occasion of 60th Republic day, 133 Padma awards have been given away to the most renowned personalities in the respective fields,. This includes 10 Padma Vibhushan followed by 30 Padma Bhushan and 93 Padma Sri.

While, no doubt all the names are worth mentioning, a few of them are for their certain notable contribution in the recent days. The man who commands ISRO and who stood behind Chandrayaan, G Madhavan Nair, Sister Nirmala who succeeded Mother Teresa, architect of Indo-US nuclear cooperation Anil Kakodkar, are the few among ten distinguished personalities who were honored with Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award.

The first Olympics Gold medalist, Abhinav Bindra, The cricket Captain who turned the demoralized Indian team to one of the best in the world, M.S.Dhoni, The golden peacock of India, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the ace spinner, Harbajan Singh, Bollywood Superstar Akshay Kumar and Arumugam Sakthivel are a few among the Padma Shri while C.K.Prahalad, Sarojini Varadappan, Shekhar Gupta, Vaidyanathan Ganapathi Sithapati, G Sivarama Krishna Murthy, Dr.Isher Judge Ahluwalia are a few among the thirty Padma Bhushan awardees.
