Anil Kapoor and Kiran Bedi to be honored at IFFLA thumbnail

As we thought that the Slumdog fever settled down with Oscars, it again surfaced at Los Angeles ironically at the same venue where it started from. The 7th Annual Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) decided to honor Anil Kapoor for his legendary status in Bollywood and also his successful performance in Slumdog Millionaire. Yet another person they decided to honor is Kiran Bedi, the first IPS woman officer.

So, on 26th of April, the closing night of the festival, Anil Kapoor and Kiran Bedi will attend as special Guests of Honor.

As a gesture of respect to Anil Kapoor, the festival will specially screen films from his repository like Lahme (1991), Virasat (1997) and My Father (2007), the one produced by him in respect to father of nation.

Anil Kapoor was so emotional and excited on hearing this and conveyed to the press about a rare coincidence. He conveyed that it was at the Arc Light Theatre, about five months back, that he attended the first AFI Fest Premiere of Slumdog Millionaire and he felt immensely pleased to attend a felicitation event at the same venue due to stupendous success of the movie. He was feeling like having come a full circle and is eagerly waiting for the due date.

.

In similar manner, it will also be a moment of pride for Kiran Bedi, on whose real life incidences a documentary Yes Madam, Sir has been released. This documentary directed by Megan Doneman, recently won the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Adelaide Inernational Film Festival and the Best Documentary and Social Justice Award at the Santa Barbara Film Festival.
