Bollywood Films are back at Theaters in Pakistan

The Indo-Pak tensions are known to the entire world. It appears that the tensions are more to do only in political arena and is not percolating down to the human elements, particularly in Bollywood related matters.
There was a short gap in Pakistan due to 26/11 attacks and the cinema halls running Bollywood movies were deserted. But as the days pass by the people are back at theaters with Aamir’s Ghajini receiving the best crowd.

Infact the Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani is stated to be a big Bollywood fan, particularly of Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai. The icing in the cake is an incidence when the External Affairs Minister, Pranab Mukherjee, presented a box full of DVDs with Aishwarya’s films to Gilani.

For the first timers, Pakistan introduced a ban on Indian films after the war in 1965. But later it permitted about 50 movies per year in the country. With the dearth of movies in the theaters there is a good DVD market, particularly pirated, doing brisk business in the country.
