Bollywood immune to recession, looting gullible public

Two conflicting news on the same day.

One is of Finance and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee’s advise to the company owners to cut salaries instead of pink slips while the other is Akshay Kumar’s charging Rs 2Cr per episode for a TV show.

Each passing day, we come across dreamy figures like a film being booked for Rs 150 Cr by a corporate house and a So-So movie clearing minimum of 80 Crs. Yet another report says of an actor taking a charter flight to attend his relatives function and return the same day.

Do these sound any social sense? Why these reports come when the entire world is reeling under recession? Why these reports in page3 when page1 talks of five million people losing jobs and many in the queue?

When will Bollywood stop bragging in crores? Even the actresses like Kajol who are nowhere nearer to today’s faces claim to be charging Rs 2.5Cr for a movie.

Baring some films like Slumdog Millionaire, there are not many that portray the truth. This being the case, any such news on these personalities are also not that convincing that they are talking the truth. Well! For a change, even if we consider that they talk the truth, is it the right time to brag this much.

Are they such great brands that they sell beyond proportions? Or are the gullible public being looted to satisfy these monstrous demands. Will these things be possible if the public (even a daily paid worker) does not pay Rs 200 per ticket?

One can infer.
