It was a great fiction by Salman Rushdie aptly titled Midnight’s Children. This story fell in the eyes of Deepa Mehta who claims to have been so impressed in 1980 itself about the novel. But it seems that it was late in 2000 that she decided to make a film on the book.

Now, Deepa is not satisfied with just making the film, but she also wants to test the acting abilities of the playboy, Salman Rushdie. So, heeding to the humble love by Mehta, Salman Rushdie has decided to play a soothsayer in the film.

So, we will have a chance to see Rushdie in action who was recently in the news for his playboy roles with different girls in different nightclubs in Mumbai.

The scenes involving Preity Zinta’s actions where she was subjected to severe cruelty that did not qualify easy viewing but removing the scenes were felt to be something not gelling with the concept.

Since, the movie was aimed at a social cause and conveying a message to the public, Mehta could convince the producers, B.R.Films to accept A certificate.

So, the movie comes in its original form on March 27th.
