With no projects to keep her busy, Celina kept herself engaged with her participation for a social case. She came out in public and conveyed her solid support for homosexuality. It further made her busy wanting her to participate in the Gay parade in Mumbai thus voicing her opinion for abolishing the laws against homosexuality.
It did not stop there. A magazine, Bombay Dost, which gave birth in 1990 and later went in to hibernation due to funds and local sentiments, wanted to cash in on the free publicity a Bollywood celebrity is offering.
So, they decided to re-launch their magazine and yes, your guess is right. Celina has been approached to be the chief guest for the re-launch function and she was only too eager to accept the same.
But, this did not go well with moral police. The public which did not see any positivity in her act, became furious and a “Munna Bhai way” has been resorted to. The result, she was flooded with emails and messages challenging her act and also questioning her basic habits.
She, however took it positively and addressed the participants. She pitied such people saying that they only intend to mask their feelings and soon they must come out and accept the reality. She related the matter to that of right of any human being to select what they need.
The founder of magazine, Ashok Row Kavi, also spoke in the event and promised to counter the hate mails by going online and fight back.
