Dada Saheb Phalke’s 140th birth anniversary celebrations at Bhaidas Hall, Mumbai is the one many prominent personalities have been eagerly waiting for.

Yes, the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards, many film personalities cherish are given away in this function. These Awards were instituted by Govt of India in 1969 to honor the lifetime achievement and contribution to Indian Cinema.

This time it is Manoj Kumar who bags Phalke Ratna Award, Shammi Kapoor, the Phalke Legend Actor Award and Shamshad Begum the Phalke Golden Singer Award.

Above all, it is the Phakle Kalptaru Award posthumously given to the veteran Prithvi Raj Kapoor that mattered the most since it is in presence of the entire Kapoor’s three generations.
