Deepa Mehta is a different director among the fraternity which fights for U certificate of their films. She decided to accept A certificate for her film “Videsh” instead of deleting some scenes as recommended by the censor board.
The scenes involving Preity Zinta’s actions where she was subjected to severe cruelty that did not qualify easy viewing but removing the scenes were felt to be something not gelling with the concept.
Since, the movie was aimed at a social cause and conveying a message to the public, Mehta could convince the producers, B.R.Films to accept A certificate.
So, the movie comes in its original form on March 27th.
