Dev D Opens Lust Line, Sets Trend

Devdas is a name synonymous with the love failures. The Bengali Novel was shaped into a movie initially in 1928 by Naresh Mitra and was made into films continuously in different languages. It was in 1955 when Dilip Kumar with Suchitra Sen and Vyjayantimala, the name Devdas got noticed and much talked about. Later in 2002, Sanjay Leela Bhansali roped in the present superstar at the helm of bollywood, Shahrukh Khan along with two famous world renowned damsels Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai and gave a super hit that is still green in our memory. In all the versions of Devdas portray three important characters. They are Devdas, Paro and Chandramuki.

This being the story, now a fairly not so prominent face, Abhay Deol, has ventured into another form of modern Devdas and the movie is titled Dev D. Here Anurag did not prefer to follow the same pattern of all the previous versions of Devdas. He therefore brought in certain changes to the 1917’s original version with present day’s touch. There are therefore characters like Paro by Mahi Gill and Chandramuki by Kalki. Devdas happens to be a son of Tax Collector and the balance theme is same.

Going by the present trend and the changes in the society, this Devdas is not just an addict of Alcohol, but also drugs. There has been even reports that the MMS scandal of Delhi Public School has also provided certain insight to these film makers. The script updated to the current scenario, is the first project Abhay is doing with his director friend Anurag Kashyap.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Ghajini have paved way some extra money by ushering internet savvy youngsters. Now, the team of Dev D is proving to be second to none in using internet mixed with telecom. They have come out with an idea to provide an exclusive recorded voice interactive phone number 022-61424800 ( they call it Lust Line) which when dialed will ask you to select the language from the choice of four, English, Hindi, French and Tamil. Once selected, the voice leads you to the Dev D website and further it is supposed to guide through.

This movie is being promoted totally as an “A” certificate one with full of lust and adult material, finds ways and means to give the audience the feel of what will they get. Thus, this lust line, which is already open, will lead to chats in the lead actor’s voice. Whether it will be lusty or otherwise is for the public to experience and realise.
