The awards fever in India is so strong that it will take a couple of years for any International events to ignore the work of Indians. We are all aware that ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ has created records and the center of attraction was an Indian A R Rahman.
Now, yet another Indian Zakir Hussain, has fetched name for India. He along with Mickey Hart, Sikiru Adepoju and Giovanni Hidalgo did a project titled the “The Global Drum”. In the Grammy awards function that took place yesterday, in Los Angeles, this work has been adjudged the Best Contemporary World Music Album.
However, this is not the first time for this team to achieve this. Way back in 1991, they brought out their first album “Planet Drum”, which also won the Grammy Award under Best World Music Album category.
