I Support Plan India, Do You? asks Anil Kapoor, Donates Entire Fee from Slumdog Millionaire

Mr.India fame Bollywood star, Anil Kapoor, who is a proud team member of the Slumdog Millionaire unit that has created history and brought India in global map wrt the film and music, has shown his softer side today. He played the role of a host in the game show in which a poor boy from Mumbai slums wins the top prize.

Anil Kapoor has been associated with a voluntary organization, “Plan India” since 2006.

Plan India is a part of Plan International, founded in 1937 after the Spanish Civil War and currently works in 68 countries. Based in Delhi in India, it serves as a Child-Centred Development organisation that aims to promote Child Rights and improve the quality of life of vulnerable children. Plan works in 13 states in India and has directly impacted lives of over a million children and their families since 1979.

Feeling that the blessings of such children led to the success of the movie, Slumdog Millionaire, Anil Kapoor, has donated the fee he received for the film to this voluntary organization, Plan India.

This gesture of Anil comes as a relief to the unit that is reeling under pressure due to nationwide criticism for projecting poverty as a theme by a foreign national.

Saying that the criticism of the movie was due to its success and not due to its direction by a foreigner, he opined that the people, as part of democratic country, must stop being defensive about the reality. He suggested to brush aside the criticism that stems from a small section of people who fail to see the film as work of art. He added that he is eagerly waiting for the audience’s verdict of the movie that is being released on Jan 23.
