Shashi Pritam, a Hyderabad based entrepreneur is yet to learn from the recent disasters of some films having central theme as cricket.
He has ventured into producing as well as directing a movie titled KIRKIT. This movie brings together a few debutants playing cricket along with Jackie Shroff, Sayali Bhagat and Gulshan Grover.
But, what Pritam is missing is that apart from Harman Baweja’s VICTORY there were two other small budget films which doomed at box office silently. They are Raveena Tandon’s STUMPED and Mandira Bedi’s MEERABHAI NOT OUT. Both these movies were based on cricket and did not go well with the viewers.
What all the producer is planning to do is to make use of the ongoing IPL season and the multiplex strike. A few days from now will tell whether this gamble makes it one more Lagaan or Victory. Let us wait and watch.
