Mahesh Bhatt has reason to cheer and so are many Bollywood personalities and the tobacco barons.
As a part of Dr.Ramdoss’s aggressive drive to eradicate smoking habits, a ban was imposed by the Union Ministry of health and family welfare in 2005 on the presence of scenes pertaining to use of Cigarettes and Tobacco products.
This was challenged by the Bollywood Director, Mahesh Bhatt in the same year on the grounds of restricting the fundamental rights of film makers.
In turn of fortunes, on Friday, 23rd Jan 2009, the Delhi High Court quashed the notification saying that the same violates the fundamental rights of movie makers. Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, declared this verdict on the grounds of fundamental rights of freedom of expression and speech.
Now it is Ramdoss’s turn.
