The technology is a boon or bane is a big debate by itself. While all the comforts today that we enjoy are in one way or the other related to technical innovations there are also certain negative impacts due to many unnatural things.
One of them is food which is produced by genetically modified crops. The chemical processes change the natural growth pattern of the crops, thus yielding much better results. While the supporters claim this to be a boon for ever growing population in the world, the detractors claim this to be a problem that would cause harm to the vital insects and other living creatures, thus creating earth’s imbalance. They keep this problem as something much dangerous than HIV or cyclones.
Based on this theme Mahesh Bhatt has decided to produce a film titled ‘Poison on the Platter’.
While announcing this project the jubilant Mahesh Bhatt said that a time always should come to blow the whistle on such matters. He has roped in Ajay Kanchan who directed ‘Aisa Kyon Hota Hai’ in 2006 also to direct this movie.
Today in Kolkata I have seen the film Poison on the Platter. It is an awareness generation film regarding the dangers of much debated and much hyped Genetically Modified Food.India/Indians is supposed to be the lab rats of MNCs.In the name of science the MNCs are doing a havoc on earth.Alleviation of hunger, low usage of pesticide, increase of yield are all false propaganda and the poor illiterate farmers are made to accept it.This is done through Indian agents.
In West Bengal the movement against GM crops was initiated in 2000 by Dr Debal Deb a noted ecologist of our times(www.cintdis.org).Based on his book a drama (on GM crops)was oragnized by a drama company,(Pancham Repatory of Sodepore),they have done more than one hundred show.
There are safer alternative to GM crops.
We have seen that organic farming can save farmers, environment and feed the world. Our Govt farm and the thousands of organic farmers have shown that fertilizers are pesticides are not needed for farming and organic farming can sustain the yield and it can give higher yield than industrial agriculture.
Thanks to Maheshji,Dr Devinder Sharma, amd Mr Ajoy Kanchan for this great work.We want to see the film on sustainable agriculture produced by Mahesji.
