As the stand-off between multiplex owners and producers come to an end, it is a bit surprising that the rich want to continue to live at the cost of poor.

A demand by cinematograph owners and exhibitors association along with theatre owners association mentioned an increase in service charges which the Congress-led Democratic Front Govt was too eager to accept. Apparently, the reason, citing the need to develop the infrastructure using these funds seems to have convinced the government.

A bill to amend the Bombay Entertainment Duty Act will be placed in monsoon session of the state legislature starting from 1st June.

Accordingly the cinemagoers have to prepare themselves to shell out an extra 3-5 for air-cooled and 4-6 for air-conditioned theatres.

Not stopping with this, there is yet another hike in service charges to an extent of 50Paise in the name of maintenance expenses.
