Mukesh Bhatt’s day with the Prime Minister

As two King Khans of Bollywood were stealing the show on Multiplex boycott by Producers, Mukesh Bhatt pulled off a master stroke.

He, in the capacity of Chairman of the United Forum for Bollywood Producers and Distributors, met the Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh yesterday, the 13th April.

He appraised the Prime Minister on the present situation and explained about various issues affecting the industry now. He conveyed about the seriousness of the situation and the need for the government’s intervention to save the industry that has higher influence on cultural impact in South East Asia.

The Prime Minister seems to have cited the elections as the reason for not intervening in the issue and also promised that he would see the problem reaching a logical conclusion should he come to power.

Bhatt also conveyed that the discussions were not just centred on revenue sharing, but also the way the multiplexes are misusing the subsidy given by the Govt in the form of Tax holiday for the growth of the industry. He said that the Multiplexes are charging exorbitant charges to a tune of Rs 300/- per ticket which is not just in the reach of common man ultimately leading to piracy.
