Mukesh Bhatt at the receiving end, a 13 year old case is being de-dusted thumbnail

As Mukesh Bhatt trains his guns on the Multiplex owners, there is someone else in other corner clearing the dust of his thirteen years old file.

In 1996, Mukesh produced a film Fareb, starring Milind Gunaji and Suman Ranganathan. It was having as many as nine most objectionable scenes and the then censor board deleted five of them before giving the movie a A certificate.

But, what really happened was that the theaters received the reels without deleting the scenes. Complaints poured in Solapur against such scenes and the district magistrate had to order an inquiry. The search resulted in the truth and hence a case was filed under Cinematograph Act which if proved will result in a jail term of 3 years to the producer.

It will be interesting to see Mahesh Bhatt on the other side of the table who recently won the case against ban on smoking.
