Yesterday, as the Multiplex owners came to the discussion table, it looked like an end to the moth old stand off. They walked in with a revenue sharing proposal of 50:40:30 in the first, second and third weeks respectively and the process did not go well with the Producers and Distributors union called United Forum.
The Forum’s chairman, Mahesh Bhatt, chaired the meeting that was held at Yash Raj Studios, last evening, the 5th of May 09 to decide the fate of Rs 300 Crores worth of different films that waiting in the cans.
But, surprisingly, the multiplex owners appeared to be in no mood to accept the demands of the Forum and the same mood prevailed on the other side of the table too, thus leading the three hour meet to a deadlock.
With one understanding between them that the Forum can choose the theaters they want the movies to be released, the meeting ended since die… meaning no further dates in mind for any meeting of any sort.
So, the single theaters are now waiting to grab the chance and make the most of it. May we call it fishing in troubled waters?
