Big B Amitabh Bachchan has been a bit sentimental about the contents of Slumdog Millionaire, the Golden Globe winning movie that depicts the rags-to-riches story of a boy from a Mumbai slum, for projecting India as a “Third World dirty underbelly developing nation”.
He writes, “If SM projects India as Third World dirty underbelly developing nation and causes pain and disgust among nationalists and patriots, let it be known that a murky underbelly exists and thrives even in the most developed nations. It’s just that the SM idea authored by an Indian and conceived and cinematically put together by a Westerner, gets creative Globe recognition. The other would perhaps not.”
He conveyed in his blog that he was prompted to say the above in response to the anger by patriots on the contents of Slumdog Millionaire.
His opinion “the conditions all over the world remain same and the perception differ” though serve as a support to the entire team that fetched four Globes, it is to be seen how this will eradicate the pain and disgust among nationalists and patriots he claims to be responding to.
