The Billboard Hot 100 is the United States music industry standard singles popularity chart issued weekly by Billboard magazine. The chart rankings are based on sales for the week starting from Monday to Sunday and air play from Wednesday to Tuesday. This started in 1958 with Poor Little Fool by Ricky Nelson hitting the first number of the Hot 100.
Now, our Jai Ho, the AR.Raman’s Oscar wining song, which was released on Feb 23, 2009 on the US iTunes Store and released internationally on Feb 24th , debuted on Billboard Hot 100 at Number 100. It was not a surprise to see that the song rose to Number 15 this week. The downloads rose nearly 500% up. With this the song has now debuted on the Pop 100 chart at 20.
Having made such big headlines, the song is sitting pretty to come on download facility in the UK on March 15.
