The Bihar slums are not happy and hence are not giving up the demand to remove the word dog from the title of the movie Slumdog Millionaire. Their agitation further strengthened with many slums joining together bringing down the banners and removing the posters.
Already we are aware of the protests by Tapeshwar Vishwakarma, the general secretary of Slum-dwellers Joint Action Committee, alleging that the film depicted slum-dwellers in bad taste by using derogatory and objectionable title Slumdog Millionaire thus calling the slum dwellers, slum dogs. This apart, the Jhuggi Jhonpdi Samyukta Sangarsh Samiti also jumped into the fray and both the outfits are trying their best to steal the limelight.
While all these protests are on, the petition filed by Tapeshwar Vishwakarma will come for hearing on Feb 5th.
