Slumdog Millionaire bagging 8 out of 10 nominations in Oscars has given the entire nation a mood to celebrate. It looks something similar to the Indian Cricket team’s 1984 world cup feat. A.R.Rahman was awarded for his best original score and for the best original song “Jai Ho” while Resul Pookutty picked up for sound mixing category.
As our proud representatives from India embraced the Oscars at the Awards ceremony at Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, back home in India, right from a Rikshawala to the President, the talk is all about the movie and the winners.
President was prompt in sending her congratulatory message to the Slumdog Millionaire team and made a special mention of A.R.Rahman and Resul Pookutty. The President Pratibha Patil’s nessage read ” I congratulate the team of “Slumdog Millionaire” that won the awards at Oscars and my appreciations to A.R.Rahman and Resul Pookutty for their winning three categories. They have made India proud”
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, also spared no time in sending his congratulatory message to this team.
Congress President’s message also says “I am delighted to see A.R.Rahman and Resul Pookutty winning this year’s much coveted Oscars for music and sound editing. I congratulate them. All the actors, technicians and support staff who worked for the movie had made India proud”
Tamil Nadu’s all the political personalities starting from the Chief Minister M.Karunanidi and all the movie personalities made it a point to make a specific mention on the success of their son of soil A.R.Rahman.
