Soundarya Rajinikanth and Warner Bros Will Do 6 Movies

It is time to know a bit more about Warner Brothers. It is a subsidiary of US-based Time Warner Inc and the studio behind Hollywood blockbusters like the Harry Potter series and The Dark Knight. The recent films associated by them concerning India are Slumdog Millionaire (distribution rights) and Chandni Chowk To China. Globally, they have/had distribution and/or co-production deals with various smaller film companies like Australia-based Village Roadshow Pictures—Yes Man (2008) and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007)—and US-based Legendary Pictures—The Dark Knight in 2008 and Batman Begins (2005).

This famous movie house, which saw billions of dollars in movie making and distribution processes, carried out a study about India only to face a pleasant shock towards results which dwelt on the attraction to the industry by the people of India who see a minimum of 12 movies in theaters.

So, Warner Bros Pictures India gave birth with the first real outcome in the form of Akshays’ Chandni Chowk to China.

Undeterred by the results of CC2C, the production house is marching briskly ahead with further plans. As on date the plans are to invest about Rs 200 Cr in different projects.

The People Tree Productions are expected to do three movies with Warner Bros. This apart, there is a special concentration in South India with none other than Rajinikanth’s family being associated with them. Ocher Studios Pvt Ltd, owned by Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth and Warner Bros have signed a three year deal for production and distribution of the films in four South Indian languages, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

So, Warner Bros aggression is expected to bring in atleast 11 films this year as reported. A few known names are Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai, Chand Bhai and an animation film. In the process of search for success formula, six movies are expected to be in South Indian languages.
