The songs in the names of actors are common, but the movies in their names are very rare and are exceptionally on legends. So, when a movie titled SRK was announced, the fans of Shahrukh Khan were jubilant and the happiness was very short lived. It was since the title SRK was not to mean Shahrukh, but the shorter version of the hero of the movie directed by Vijay Varma.
Vinay Pathak plays the character Shivaji Ramchandra Khote and his friends find this name rather too long and end up shortening the same to SRK. Interestingly the director Vijay Varma, an FTI graduate hails from the family of the painter of all time, Raja Ravi Varma. .
This movie also creates yet another special effect. The music for this film is given by A.R.Rahman’s guru, Iilayaraja and the lyrics from the pens of the Oscar Gulzar. It appears that these two maestro’s are doing a movie together after more than two decades, the last one being Balu Mahendra’s “Sadma” released in 1983.
This is yet another project of Warner Bros and the other characters are Rituaparna Sengupta, Manoj Joshi and Dilip Prabhavalkar.
This movie is about an Economic graduate who lives in Kerala. He is a humble school teacher and leads a normal life with two kids and wife. He suddenly gets restless with dreams of becoming big and earn name and fame. He therefore takes a long leave and attempts various options only to fail miserably and never to show any interest in his original profession. His aversion and greed end up with his wife and father-in-law trying all the ways and means to run the family and at the same time help him realise his mistakes. This comic movie aiming at conveying a message to the society is expected to hit the theaters by Mid 2009.
