The Miss Universe (1994) Sushmita sen, filed a case against the music director Anu malik’s brother Abu Malik demanding balance payment against her performance in the shows in Dubai, US and UK during May 2006.

While Sushmita demanded the payment through a complaint, Abu malik who attended all the 20 hearings personally, maintained his stand that he did not owe any money to her and that her demand was baseless. He conveyed that she was to do 11 shows only, but demanded the payment for 15 shows. He also conveyed about the poor performance of the shows and Sushmita’s willingness to return the excess money. Sushmita could not attend the hearings and her sister Neelam attended all of them.

Fought through a renowned lawyers, Abu Malik now won the case through a panel of arbitrators which has ruled against Sushmita and ordered her to pay Rs 50,000/- towards the cost of litigation.
