President was prompt in sending her congratulatory message to the Slumdog Millionaire team and made a special mention of A.R.Rahman and Resul Pookutty. The President Pratibha Patil’s nessage read ” I congratulate the team of “Slumdog Millionaire” that won the awards at Oscars and my appreciations to A.R.Rahman and Resul Pookutty for their winning three categories. They have made India proud”

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, also spared no time in sending his congratulatory message to this team.

Congress President’s message also says “I am delighted to see A.R.Rahman and Resul Pookutty winning this year’s much coveted Oscars for music and sound editing. I congratulate them. All the actors, technicians and support staff who worked for the movie had made India proud”

Tamil Nadu’s all the political personalities starting from the Chief Minister M.Karunanidi and all the movie personalities made it a point to make a specific mention on the success of their son of soil A.R.Rahman.

In these days where the educated elite do not wish to speak in native language what Rahman did was indeed an eye-opener and indeed will ridicule today’s Bollywood lot which comes on the news for writing their Hindi text in English.

He emotionally said, “Ellapogazhum Iraivanuke” in Tamil meaning ‘May all praise belongs to the Almighty’.

After many awards in different cities in the US followed by the ‘Golden Globe’, now the team is back in London to sweep a bagful of awards from British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).

What else can we say about this proud team which has again hit the news in bagging seven awards from BAFTA? As usual the film “Slumdog Millionaire” tops the list with the director Danny Boyle and AR Rahman follows for his Best Music Score. The other Indian to shine in this award is Resul Pookutty for Best Sound Editing. This apart, the movie also secured awards for Best Screenplay (Simon Beaufoy), Best Cinematography (Anthony Dod Mantle) and Best Editing (Chris Dickens).

A small change in Danny Boyle’s speech this time is that it involved his defense to the name “Slumdog” which received wide objection from the “Slum Dwellers” in India. He also had to go one step further to clarify that he had compensated very well to the children who acted in the film and said that he had put in place an educational plan for such under privileged children, thus ensuring his commitment and presence forever among those children.

So, it is A.R.Rahman today.

His sincerity towards Namaaz is something many want to appreciate. This busy maestro recently requested the producer of Delhi6 to give a break in the release event to facilitate his Namaaz. That day being Friday, Rahman confessed that he prays from 1 pm to 3 pm and hence needed the rest.

It is Rahman’s version that now a days the word religion is being portrayed a bit vulgarly. So, he calls his belief and practice as spirituality. The man who redefined the Vande Matharam’s tunes, says, his spirituality, a passion in him, facilitates him to concentrate on the job to bring out the best in him.

This, A.S.Dileep Kumar who became Allah Rakkha Rahman proudly says that the 15 years of prayers only increased his faith multifold giving him the much desired strength and calmness.

The allegation is that the title of film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ conveys that the slum dwellers as dogs. The General Secretary of the Committee Tapeshwar Vishwa Karma filed the case with a Mumbai chief judicial magistrate, Raghvendra Kumar Singh alleging that such an act was a violation of human rights and honour. He also said that he had already approached the national and state human rights commission for necessary action against AR Rahman and Anil Kapoor who have participated in making of the film.

The hearing for this case has been fixed as February 5th 2009 in which the chief judicial magistrate directed the general secretary to produce proper evidence in support of his complaint.
