India’s pride of the decade, A.R.Rahman has helped our country boast of our musical talents with an Oscar winning performance in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. Now that he is internationally famous, his ever increasing number of fans would only want to know more about this musician’s life.

So, writer Kamini Mathai plans to write a biography that promises to disclose quite a lot about his life.

So for all you folks out there who look up to him as your role-model, and those who aspire to become like him some day, this is the very book you should be waiting for.

A.R.Rahman’s first show after Oscars

Unassuming and pious A.R.Rahman, the Oscar winner, has ventured on a world tour for a cause.

Naming it as “Jai Ho” world tour, Rahman will perform 39 shows in different parts of the world for next five years and handover the collections to a social organization that would spend the money on the welfare of HIV+ children.

The first ever programme of this series was kicked off in Kozhikode, Kerala on Sunday. It is needless to say that the crowd stood mesmerized throughout the programme which happens to be the first one after his double Oscars.

The show had its glamour content with the presence and participation of famous film singers like Chitra, Hariharan, Rahid Ali, Javed Ali, Sayanora and Mohammed Aslam. They entertained the audience with songs from Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil. All said and done, it became a natural instinct for the audience to come on their feet when Jai Ho was performed. Such was the respect for the song and its master.

Rahman was truly touched with the response and respect that he vowed to return to the same stage soon.

AR Rahman joins Japanese Musician for Kamal’s 19th Step

After Dasavataram, Kamal Haasan and Asin get together for another movie 19th Step. Surprisingly, Kamal will only be doing a cameo role in this film, giving away the hero title to Japanese star Tadanobu Asanno. Getting to the story, we just know that Asin plays a princess in the movie while Kamal plays the role of her martial arts guru.

This movie is being directed by Bharat Bala, who has managed to rope in his old pal and schoolmate A R Rahman. Going through their history books, Rahman’s most popular album Vande Mataram and the national anthem Jana Gana Mana was directed by Bharat Bala, featuring India’s most famous musicians.

Rahman has joined hands with Joe Hisaishi, a Japanese musician to present to us an out of the ordinary music for the film. To do so, Rahman recently popped in for two weeks in Japan to really understand their music. Also, Oscar winner Resul Pookutty has also been signed in for this project which is a Walt Disney production.

Mick Jagger impressed with A.R.Rahman, Works together

Soon after the Oscar awards, A.R.Rahman, said that his time henceforth would need to be shared between Bollywood and Hollywood. Infact he opined that it would most probably be 50:50.

He therefore went in to a kind of self exile for sometime to protect himself from the media glare and rejuvenate for a long innings ahead.

Now, the news has come that he has tied up with another great in the field, Mick Jaggar of The Rolling Stones.

Mick Jagger is an English singer with Grammy and Globes under his belt. He is as impressed with the works of A.R.Rahman and is now having trials to workout one of the best products together.

This association now keeps A.R.Rahman in the US and if we need to see more of him, let us practice watching Hollywood flicks.

Rahman’s Glare-o-Phobia

At times becoming famous is not meaningful. One will be subjected to non-stop attentions and felicitations that there will be practically no time even for a nap. It is not just that they love you, but there are many who try to make your sale value for their own gains. Even if a boy or girl gets first rank in the state, the bee line in front of his or her house and all kinds of felicitations are not just out of pure love, baring some close local functions, but for their own gain which are written clearly on the wall.

The recent victim in these lines in our dear A.R.Rahman. Already a media shy personality, who lives life between Family, Music and Prayers, is suddenly seen flying from one corner of the world to the other more frequently that his close ones claim that he has forgotten which side of the world he is in and whether it is night or day.

But, as he has his Almighty at his side always, he got a splendid idea of undergoing some kind of naturopathy far away from his home of course with a company, music. So, he went missing much to the difficulties of his family members and friends who were advised not to reveal his whereabouts.

But, the media is not that dull. It has traced him to Bangalore and even has a news that one producer went all the way only to get a firm and polite NO from ARR even to meet, forget signing the project.

On March 5th this year, The Royal Festival Hall in London has been the venue of the 2009 UK Asian Music Awards function that was organized by B4U music to support and encourage the established artists as well as newcomers in both Asian and UK commercial music.

A.R.Rahman, the proud Indian with two Oscars becomes an automatic choice to be a recipient of any award meant for Outstanding Achievement in his field. So, here again, the B4U Outstanding Achievement Trophy has gone to none other than A.RRahman.

While Jay Sean clinched the awards for Best Male act and Best Urban Act, the rapper MIA was awarded the Best Female act. Rishi Rich took away the one for Best Producer and commitment to the scene and the one for Best Radio Host went to Bobby Friction
