Any idea where Deepika Padukone is? Lima. Where is it? Peru, a country in South America.

This lady who could not make any serious impact in Bollywood after Om Shanti Om, seems to be banking on the media hype. The hype is such that she is now seen in all other events except movies.

She was a judge in Miss India event followed by guest of honour by Peruvian Minister of Tourism and Commerce and now we hear that she is a hot favourite in Latin American countries.

Latin American edition of Vogue has opted for Deepika’s face on its cover. She happens to be first Indian face to grace this magazine which chose Marina Gracia Burgos, a senior photographer, to capture the pretty face. He appears to have shot the pics in the background of Inca ruins.

She has been enjoying the hospitality of Peruvian public as well as government.

Hope to see her occupying a ministerial slot in Indian government that will enhance the value of artists.

Her movies like My fair Lady, Roman Holiday, Breakfast at Tiffany’s are a few among many which are in everyone’s mind afresh.

Well! why all these now. It is because, Deepika Padukone, who claims to be an ardent fan of this actress, recently conveyed her desire to do roles like Audrey Hepburn.

She walked the ramp for Ranna Gill and Rina Dhaka’s collections sponsored by Fiama Di Wills at Wills India Fashion Week, yesterday, the 21st March.

Deepika who shot to fame with SRK’s OSO, could not follow it with CC2C which did not do well at the box office. She is now banking on Saif’s luck with “Love Aaj Kal” and is eagerly waiting for Vijay Lalwani’s “Kartik Calling Kartik”.

She, for one reason, did not go on signing spree and was stated to be very choosy in selecting the script, supported by her parent’s guidance. Thus, she justifies her less presence in the movies after OSO.

However, she conveyed her desire to do the roles that would remember her as all remember Audrey. A good desire indeed.

The Slumdog Millionaire has really opened the gate for Indian talents in International markets. In days to come, we are here to see as many nominations as possible in each International event. The expectation is that next Oscars must see atleast two nominations from Indian film Industry and our people will surely work towards that. There are some films just made only to bag the Indian National Awards. Similarly, days are not far off for the Indian talents to understand the nuances of the Oscar needs and prove their worthiness.

Well! There is a solace for Indians to see their lady to be nominated for the first time in an International event.

We are aware how the Chandni Chowk to China could not cross the Chandni Chowk lanes and bombed at box office. But the heroine has no reasons to worry as her name bas been nominated for best actress award at the 33rd Hong Kong International Film Festival.

This is a big festival spanning from March 22nd till April 13th during which about 300 films from 50 countries will be screened.

Deepika who was depressed with the results of CC2C felt happy with this nomination and dedicated the same to her Chinese looks and the training on martial arts.

The other name figuring in the awardees list is A.R.Rahman for Jodha Akbar.

Deepika being practical, post Chandni Chowk to China

It is known to all that the much hyped film ‘Chandni Chowk to China’ is a big disaster. The film was washed away in the first week itself, inspite of casting big stars like Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone under big banner.

This is Akshay Kumar’s biggest flop ever in his recent past films. Many including the critics wrote away that Deepika is unlucky to Akshay. But she defends herself by saying that her work in the film was appreciated by many even though the film is a failure. “I’ve put in lot of efforts for this film and have learnt a lot to improve myself”, says Deepika who thinks practical.

Now her next film with Saif Ali Khan and Imtiaz Ali is progressing briskly. Deepika plays today’s girl from traditional background who deals with relationships. Let’s hope this film will give some boost to Deepika.
