Indian film, Lahore, gets the prestigious Jury Award for the best feature film

April 20, 2009 saw one more history being made.

Puran Singh Chauhan became a director for the first time in his life through a movie titled Lahore.

This film won the most prestigious Jury Award for the Best Feature Film at the 42nd Worldfest International Film Festival, Houston.

This awards assumes such a significance in one’s life since it was the award that kick-started the careers of the greats like David Lynch, Steven Spielberg, Ridfley Scots, Robert Rodriguez and many more.

Produced by Vivek Khatkar, this movie dwells on two sports lovers from undivided India. One was an aspirant in Kick-Boxing and the other a Cricketer. Their emotional attachment to the sports, family values as well as their country are depicted with a high level of precision in the movie which had for cast Nirmal Pandey, Ashish Vidyarthi, Nafisa Ali, Sabyasachi Chakraborthy and a newcomer Aanahad.

Ahmedabad begins film festival

Leaving the metros behind, a new city has joined the fray to give a new life to the regional movies and at the same time to create an impact among national and international circuits.

Ahmedabad is the new city that will host an International Film Festival called Ahmedabad International Film Festival 2009.

With an eye on AIDS awareness, this festival will also focus on Gujarati Film Industry. The Children oriented films will gain prominence and the entries for films from all around the world are being invited for the festival that is scheduled to take place during June 26th to 28th this year.

Interestingly Berlin International Film Festival and Tampere Film Festival, Finland are joining hands with FullMarxx Integrated Filmed Entertainment Company to organize the festival that is expected to showcase around 100 films. This programme is expected to facilitate dialogue between nations.
