The Bollywood may not forget Rekha, Sridevi, Hemamalini and Jayaprada who all sizzled on the silver screens with the greats like Amitabh Bachchan, Jeetendra, Rishi Kapoor and others in 1980s. These three from the South Indian Industry made such an impact in their time that hardly other names were able to reach a level of prominence.
While Rekha had her own way of living and was always in the news, Sridevi and Hemamalini decided to settle with their families and confining their reel life to appearance just here and there on TV, Jayapradha alone went ahead with pursuing her political career to become a people’s leader as MP from Rampur.
But, no one knows where the destiny could lead them to. She started a production house and made a Telugu film with her son only to face a severe loss. Then came a Kannada Film and a Bengali Film. There could be no serious results from these ventures.
This lady who is a great dancer is now back in a Hindi film. She will act as a mother to Shilpa Shetty in “The Desire”. This film is a Indo-Chinese one in which the Chinese superstar Xia Yu also stars. Shilpa plays a Odyssey dancer. Recently there was a news about this movie being shot at Kerala where Shilpa’s head was made up by a famous artist Vidyadhar who turned it to look like a tonsured head.
Well, the news is about Jayaprada who says that she was waiting for almost ten years to do one such role she has been assigned to do so in “The Desire”. She also conveys tactically her willingness to do any fitting role in the movies as demanded by the story line, so we are now ready with a mother and grandmother who will don the screens for years from now.
