The English film, The President is coming starring Konkana Sen Sharma today opened to theaters to a review of 3stars by many critics. This movie which is first attempt of the director Kunal Roy Kapur has fetched him a distinction “remarkable debut”. But, the entire appreciation is focused on complex-ridden Konkana who has brought out her best even as the film’s output was described as “unpolished feel and loose editing”.
The movie revolves around six aspiring contestants who want to make it to meet the American President George Bush during his visit to India. The contestants will present “the New India” in front of the president.
Konkana’s role was that of one of the contestants who is totally determined and will not leave any stones unturned to make it to the event. There are many diplomatic twists and political turns making it a full length movie with enough comedy planted at right places.
So, what is the news today? Konkana was playing Lesbian was what propagated when the movie was in preparation. But, this turned out to be yet another gimmick (or do we call it marketing process) of the gullible public. Konkana admits this to be something of promotional process and co-operated in maintaining grave silence till the release. Even the unit members were co-operating the same way. So, next time you want to promote a movie, go the gay way.
